Executive Director, Northwest Haiti Christian Mission Canada

Northwest Haiti Christian Mission Canada

Dear Ones,

Greetings from Texas! I am here in Fort Worth, at the Southwest Believers’ Convention. Every summer, I spend a week here, working in Altar Ministry, privileged to sit under some of the finest Bible teaching and preaching in the world today. It has been glorious sitting under the Word of God for twelve or more hours a day, since Monday.

While listening to the teaching, I have been feeling my heart overflow with gratitude for so many things our Lord has done in our lives and in Haiti lately. Many of these are things I have not shared with you, because compared to the miraculous things our Lord was doing, saving lives and healing the sick and broken, some of these events seemed so small. But, here at this Bible meeting, I have found myself full of tears of thankfulness for God’s love, His kindness to us, wishing I could tell you some of what has made my heart overflow with gratitude. So, here it is:

So often, in my reports, people ask me how many people accepted Jesus in Haiti. I lose track of the numbers. Really, there is only one at a time. That is how we all found our Lord – one on one with Him. But, there is also a desire to know how many people are being reached with such a tremendous outpouring of work and resources, so I do try to keep track of the numbers.

No Container of milk this week‏k

Dear Ones,

I am writing to let you know that we will not be loading a container this week. We are still praying for milk products, especially baby formula, to send.

Most of you are well aware of the serious need we have for especially our premature infants, whose mothers are so starved, that their milk is not rich enough to keep their babies warm. Our nurse/midwife, Melissa, has worked out a schedule for these babies, where they nurse properly with their mothers, and then two hours later, receive a bottle of special baby formula, rich in nutrients. Two hours after that, they nurse with their mothers again. This gives us opportunity to get the mothers built up, and the babies some special nutrition, while still encouraging God’s plan for infant nutrition to continue.

A quick email [May 2, 2010]

Dear Ones,

I know that you pray for us. There are many victories today to share with you, and so little time before the generator goes off. So, I will quickly share with you some photos of today’s triumphs.

A new team of beloved Canadian missionaries arrived safely, despite many difficulties with airlines and schedules. We are so very happy to have them!

On the sounds of the night.... [May 1, 2010]

I was reading this morning about one of the kings of Judah, Jehoshaphat, the son of Asa. He was a good king, who loved the Lord, and took away all the idol worship out of the land. He honoured the covenant of God. It says in 1Ki 22:43: “And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.”

King Jehoshaphat tried to bring his nation back to the Lord, but the people still feared their gods of nature. Revival in the nation must be caused by revival in the heart of one person at a time.

Yesterday morning, I awoke about one a.m. to a sound I have not heard in Haiti since the earthquake. It was the sound of a lone drum up on the mountains behind the mission. The drums are a form of petitioning the voodoo spirits. People believe these spirits live in the sound of the drum and come to the sound of it.
