New dresses for little girls
Hi. It is Sunday, and I have had a little while to copy over photos from my camera, and am sending you a couple.
Follow up:
There is a mother here, with a family. You have heard about her before. She received Jesus as her Saviour and was baptized about four years ago. Her oldest son was in Port au Prince during the earthquake, and when a wall was falling upon him, cried out, “Jesus, whom my mother worships, help me!” The wall immediately fell the other direction, and he escaped in a bath towel (he was in a shower at the time), and walked for days up to the north where his mother lives. She, with many tears of thanksgiving, led him to her Lord.
I came back to St. Louis du Nord a few years ago, to find that she had nearly starved to death, trying to feed her children and also pay her rent. That year, someone had graciously given me $250, and told me to use it where it was needed most. It covered her rent for the year. (Here in Haiti, rent is paid annually.) The children are going to school, and are in the special nutrition program for starving children, but the mother is still painfully thin, and working at farm work to earn any money.
Over the summer, some ladies at home have been sewing dresses for little girls. I asked permission to give one to this dear sister’s younger daughters. This is a photo of the girls in their new clothes.
When we tried to take the dresses off the girls for the long walk up the mountain to their home, the youngest one ran away and hid, until we promised her that she could keep the dress. It was the first new dress either child had ever received.
God bless you all. Thank you so much for praying!
In His great love, Tina
